Pt. Reyes Fire and Sheriff Station Deck, Marin County, California
This new structure was constructed to replace the
existing deteriorated and unsafe wood deck. The structure serves as both a carport for the Marin County Sheriff station
on the first floor of the adjacent building, and the deck above serves as an outdoor space for the Pt. Reyes Fire station
housed on the second floor. The coastal location of the site only a few hundred feet from the San Andreas Fault suggested
that the new deck and carport structure be of steel with a concrete deck for longevity and ease of maintenance.
The surrounding redwood shingle screen wall and glass panels are similar in style to the existing building to
provide privacy and protection to those using deck.
